Long Beach Improvement Society is a nonpartisan civic organization based in Long Beach, California. We help residents understand what’s happening in local government, make sense of what’s on the ballot, and find concrete ways to get involved close to home.

We break down what’s on your ballot and how City Hall actually works — in plain language, without the jargon.
Community Organizing
We help neighbors find each other and organize around the issues they care about most, from housing to public safety to parks.
Voter Engagement
We make sure Long Beach residents know when and how to vote, and help clear away the everyday obstacles that keep people from the polls.
Nonpartisan, by Practice
Long Beach Improvement Society does not endorse candidates or political parties, and does not campaign for or against any candidate. Our work is to make local government easier to understand and easier to take part in, for every Long Beach resident regardless of party or point of view.
